In those instances stock photos are a big help. Some items I sell are still sealed in bags, without boxes, again making them hard to photograph, and a buyer certainly is not going to see what the items actually looks like. Some items come in non display boxes, or have box art showing things not included with the item, or just general box art that doesn't show exactly what a buyer will receive.

Some of those things are packaged with clear pastic windows and inserts. Much of what I sell are new old stock items. I would never purchase a used book or any used item here or anywhere that has only a stock is a place for stock or catalog photos, but their use should be limited, especially for used items. I've got so many things around here that weren't worth the trouble of returning, or I got distracted and missed the deadline to return. Photos and descriptions go hand-in-hand to accurately describe an item that isn't able to be viewed in person. Many of us try to avoid going thru the hassle of a return even when there are defects in the item we receive.Īgain, I agree. Stock photos have NO PLACE in online shopping. Pictures are great and are important, but a lack of a description pointing out where to look for a defect is a huge concern. Many sellers barely even bother with any real description at this point and it makes it very hard to understand if an item has a defect, especially if you are using a table or phone to view the item. Yes, it is, and I've seen nothing but problems with the catalog so far. Is exactly why I generally do not shop for used items on Amazon, but apparently ebay believes that this 'catalog' based shopping model is their future.
